The request
Festa via Pontica is a 4 stars resort that counts 270 rooms, all provided with minibars, balconies and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is located next to a winery restaurant, so the tourists can go there to have a quality meal after spending a day of relax at the beach.
The hotel is a 6-storey huge building, requiring a pressurization system to supply any single room with the proper amount of water. The use of a VFD (Variable Frequency Driver) is a must in this kind of application, since the load condition can be extremely different. In a hotel, a peak of water request is expected in the early morning, before dinner time and in the late evening, when most of the guests are taking a bath or a shower. During the day time, when less people are using the toilette, a VFD-pump can supply the required amount of water at constant pressure (better comfort to the user), avoiding undesired over-pressure and resulting in a big energy saving.
DAB suggested the hotel contractor to adopt this kind of technology: finally, the choice was the performant booster set made of 2 x NKVE 20/6 T MCE 400-50, driven by the efficient VFD. The two pumps share the duty demand, obtaining a great precision on the pressure set point. The payback period of such a solution (15 kW total power) is expected to be less than 2 years. The booster set is D.Connect ready: it will be possible to monitor the energy consumption and to easy calculate the energy saving with a connectivity system provided by DAB.
